Popular Merthyr photography competition launches

St Tydfil Shopping Centre is delighted to be launching its popular Pride of Merthyr photography competition for a third year.

The competition invites the local community to submit photos they have taken of their favourite places in the Merthyr area for the chance to win a hamper of prizes.

In 2017, over 170 amazing photos were received and, following a vote on the shopping centre’s Facebook page, a photo taken by Sadie Cook of Pont-y-Cafnau Bridge, the oldest surviving iron bridge in the world, was chosen as the winner.

Whether it’s a photo of the stunning Merthyr countryside, a hidden gem, or the hustle and bustle of the town centre, every photo will be considered as long as it features Merthyr Tydfil.

Budding photographers have until Friday 31st August to submit their entries before 10 are chosen to go on display in the centre for local residents to admire.  It will then be down to the community to decide on the overall winner through a public vote on St Tydfil Shopping Centre’s Facebook page.

Lee Simmonds, Centre Manager at St Tydfil Shopping Centre, commented:

“Our Pride of Merthyr competition is designed to celebrate the beauty of Merthyr Tydfil. We received a large number of fantastic photos last year showcasing many different locations in the area and we’re looking forward to seeing what places are showcased this year.”

To submit a photograph, simply email it to sttydfil@pmwcom.co.uk by Friday 31st August confirming the location, along with the photographer’s name, age and contact details.

Full competition Terms and Conditions are available to read on www.sttydfilshoppingcentre.co.uk.
