Santa arrives at his Merthyr grotto
A day of Christmas festivities saw Santa Claus arrive at his grotto in St Tydfil Shopping Centre on Saturday 2nd December.
Joined by his two helpers, Santa made his way to the grotto greeting visitors along the way before taking up residency and listening to Christmas wishes from Merthyr’s children.
To celebrate Santa’s arrival, the shopping centre held a Christmas craft fair where local people were selling handmade festive decorations and unique gifts. The Llwydcoed Brass Band were also entertaining visitors around the Christmas tree.
Julie Calderbank, Operations Manager at St Tydfil Shopping Centre, commented:
“Christmas is such a magical time and it was wonderful to see the faces of young children as they got to meet Santa in his grotto. We look forward to welcoming families and children every weekend up until Christmas.”
Santa’s Grotto at St Tydfil Shopping Centre is free to visit and is open between 9.30am and 4.30pm every Friday and Saturday until Saturday 23rd December. All children who visit will receive a goody bag. A balloon modeller will be entertaining young visitors on Saturday 9th, 16th and 23rd December and local groups will be performing Christmas favourites.
A Santa’s sleigh will be at the centre every day leading up to Christmas for visitors to sit in and take photos.
